We Are Here To Help

The Ingham County Treasurer's Office has partnered with multiple community organizations to assist people with delinquent taxes and other issues that might be threatening the roof over their heads. 

If you are having trouble paying your delinquent taxes the first thing to do is call us. We are here to help, but we can only do that if you reach out.

The Financial Literacy Program - A Capital Area Community Services program that offers financial counseling to people at risk of losing their home to tax foreclosure.

Step Forward Michigan - A federally funded loan program for eligible homeowners who are struggling with property taxes or mortgage payments. New applications are no longer being accepted as of October 2020. Updates to this program are expected in September 2021. Please check back for more information.

Legal Services of South Central Michigan- A Michigan Advocacy Program that offers free civil legal assistance to low income persons with emphasis on homelessness prevention, domestic violence, food, and need-based income programs.

State Bar of Michigan Legal Resource and Referral Center - A statewide resource for lawyer referral, legal aid resources, legal information resources, and the states "Modest Means Program" for reduced cost legal assistance.

Center For Financial Health - Offers services with their Certified Housing Counselors who can help with foreclosure prevention, tenant & landlord counseling, and reverse mortgage counseling.
